Setting out for ʿUmrah, the Muslims were stopped at Ḥudaybiyyah and negotiated a ten-year truce whose terms seemed unfavourable to many companions.
Yet it proved a 'clear victory': peace allowed the message to spread rapidly, and many embraced Islam in the years that followed.
