أبو بكر الصدّيق
Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq
The first Caliph · the Truthful · companion of the cave
A respected merchant of Makkah known for his gentleness and integrity, Abū Bakr (ra) was the first adult free man to accept Islam and never wavered for a moment. He spent his wealth freeing enslaved believers, among them Bilāl (ra), and accompanied the Prophet ﷺ on the Hijrah, sheltering with him in the Cave of Thawr.
He earned the title al-Ṣiddīq (the Truthful) for instantly affirming the Night Journey. After the Prophet's ﷺ passing he was chosen as the first Caliph, holding the community together with calm resolve and famously reminding them that whoever worshipped Muhammad ﷺ, Muhammad had died, but whoever worshipped Allah, He is ever-living.
