Salmān al-Fārisī

Born in Persia, Salmān (ra) left wealth and home in a long search for true religion, passing through hardship and even enslavement, until he reached Madinah and recognised the Prophet ﷺ by the signs he had been told of.

It was his counsel to dig a trench around Madinah that saved the city at the Battle of al-Khandaq. The Prophet ﷺ honoured him as one of the household: 'Salmān is of us, the Family.'
