The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to grant some of those whom he sent in a detachment a special share of the war booty, apart from other members of the army.
Authentic hadithعن عَبْدُ الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما «أَنَّ رَسُولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُنَفِّلُ بَعْضَ مَنْ يَبْعَثُ فِي السَّرَايَا لأَنْفُسِهِمْ خَاصَّةً سِوَى قَسْمِ عَامَّةِ الْجَيْشِ».
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to grant some of those whom he sent in a detachment a special share of the war booty, beyond what he would grant members of the army in general.
